This two mile stretch of goat path was
included in America's premier road race, the Tour DuPont. Closed
in the winter, the road rises from 590 feet to 1,800 feet. Short
sections pitch up to 23%. Many
cyclists avoid descending Platte Clove by continuing to
Tannersville and coming down Route 23A. Including this loop to
Tannersville in the 'four-county century' adds 16 miles and
2,000 feet of climbing. |
